Visitation Policy

Lenox Hill Hospital, a patient-centered environment, cares about your visitors and the healing role they play in your recovery process. In order to provide the best care possible, visitors may be asked to step out of the room when care needs to be provided, based on patient request, or due to safety or legal concerns.

You can choose who can and cannot visit you while you are in our health care facility without regard to legal relationship, race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or disability.

Virtual Visitation Guidelines for Patients

We understand that visitation is important to patients’ physical and emotional well-being. During the COVID-19 pandemic, visitation has been restricted, and we know how difficult this has been for patients, family members and friends. Therefore, we would like to encourage virtual visitation and share some helpful guidance for virtual visits in our facilities:

  • You may use your own device (e.g., a cell phone or tablet) to connect to the Northwell Guest Network and communicate with family members and friends without restriction. You may also request a hospital-provided tablet and use Microsoft Teams for virtual visitation. You may not use FaceTime or Zoom on hospital-provided tablets.
  • The camera on the device must only view yourself. Recording clinical care, equipment, supplies, materials, other patients, visitors or any hospital team member is prohibited.
  • Devices must be turned off or paused and remain off during all staff and clinical interactions, including any clinicians’ interactions with your roommate (if applicable), unless your roommate has provided consent.
  • To ensure the safety and privacy of all of our patients, team members and visitors, devices cannot be used outside of your room.
  • Virtual visits are not permitted during quiet hours.
  • You may be asked to use headphones or discontinue using virtual visitation if it is disruptive to staff or other patients.
  • You may not broadcast or post any footage captured on the device on any social media channels.
  • Compliance with all of these guidelines is required for virtual visitation while you remain in the hospital.
